Bora Aksu A/W'08

The London shows are drawing to a close this evening, and despite Julien Macdonald still left to send some sparkle down the runway I believe that my favourite show this season was Bora Aksu.
Despite still being one of those designers that makes a big impression with press at the shows yet unfortunately not always with the buyers, Aksu is still going strong after 11 seasons at London Fashion Week.
I'm not usually a lover of designers such as Bora Aksu; i'm not quite sure why? I tend to like serious glamour or dramatic effect like the McQueen collections, however i always seem to have a soft spot for his collections.
The A/W collection was a sumptious mixture of textures and shapes combining wools, chiffon, silks and jerseys using his trademark of layering fabrics. The collection was a hark back to his early collections, which is something more than welcomed by fans such as myself.
The gorgeous autumnal colours, elegant detailing such as the ruffles and pussy bow necklines and lightweight fabrics gave the pieces a feminine touch, whilst the dramatic cut of some of the outer garments hardened the collection up and made it much more wearable by many.
Let's hope that the buyers take note of Bora Aksu this season and support a designer with some beautiful garments!
